Devi 2 Movie Review

There’s always a situation, where an underdog filmmaker suddenly surprises you with a good movie or vice versa, where a top league filmmaker gives a flop movie. However, director Vijay belongs to a rare species, where all his movies belong to the below average league and even by miracles, they don’t surprise you of being a good one.

The same happens to be his today’s release ‘Devi 2’ that is a sequel to 2016 hit movie ‘Devi’, which had almost the same star-cast. In fact, Devi happens to be the only solace in the league of Vijay movies, where it managed to impress the audiences. However this one is a pure irritation, where we don’t even have a single moment to get engrossed.

The performance Prabhu Deva and Tamannaah are quite good. With the makers releasing the film simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, they are sure that it would get them decent collection bigger than their production cost. Nevertheless, Devi 2 is completely disappointing.

NGK Movie Review

Selvaraghavan’s NGK is a political drama featuring Suriya, Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles. SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu have produced this film for the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures. The film is about an organic farmer, who happens to be a M. Tech student as well.

He wants to join politics for the sake of doing good things for the people in neighborhood. However, he chooses the same path of corrupted system to bring everything under his control and what all he loses during this process is what the film is all about. Suriya’s performance as an aggressive and angry young man is really awesome.

Sai Pallavi has done a superb performance and Rakul Preet Singh’s role is neatly sketched. However, the musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja is literally disappointing. Be it songs or BGM, they aren’t up to the expected levels. Only the song ‘Anbe’ happens to be the best one. Cinematography is good. Dialogues are powerful.

The first half moves with commendably good and engrossing moments. However, as the story moves into the second hour, it fails to maintain the best impression and by the end, it’s like bits and pieces of episodes wontedly conjoined. On the whole, NGK doesn’t exceed your expectations.
